Hotel Vischio Toyama

In October, I stayed at Courtyard by Marriott Fukui and would like to share my experience. This hotel opened in 2022 in Toyama, a city famous for having some of Japan’s finest sushi.

The hotel front desk is located on the 5th floor of MAROOT, a commercial facility at the south exit of Toyama Station.

Enter MAROOT, and you’ll see the elevators right on your left.

This is the lobby area. Walk towards the back, and you’ll find the front desk on your right.

Tourist Information Area.

In the area in front of the front desk, artwork made from local wood and glass was on display.

At the front desk, they were giving out complimentary local Toyama sweets, which I received during check-in. (There was even a different treat available when I checked out!)

This time, I stayed in the ‘Standard Twin,’ which is the entry-level room category. Rooms from the Superior Twin tier and above are located on the higher concept floors, offering views of the Tateyama Mountain Range and higher guest room ceilings.

After completing the check-in process and walking towards the back of the floor, you’ll find the guest lounge.

Complimentary drinks, including coffee and tea, are provided.

The lounge is also equipped with a microwave.

Stepping into the room.

It has an all-in-one bathroom.

I could see the Shinkansen (bullet train) right from my room.

Although it is not a natural hot spring, there is a large public bath on the 5th floor. (The men’s bath also includes a sauna.)

The biggest highlight of this hotel is definitely its breakfast.

In the morning, the restaurant ‘Toyama Sushi Ujitoyama’ on the 4th floor of MAROOT serves exclusively as the hotel’s breakfast venue under the name ‘VISCHIO GARDEN.’

All-you-can-eat nigiri sushi is included!

Glass shrimp pizza.

Grilled fish and simmered whelk (bai-gai).

There is a wide selection of local Toyama specialties, such as Himi udon noodles and squid ink salt-fermented squid (ika no kurotsukuri

On that day, they even had green curry available.

Total Review

I always look forward to their breakfast sushi whenever I stay here. Located right next to Toyama Station with plenty of shops inside MAROOT, it’s an incredibly convenient hotel. Plus, as part of the hotel group operated by the Shinkansen railway company, the service is exceptionally good.
